So what do you think of the new Acura NSX? I seem to get mixed responses. Some love it. Others think it shouldn’t share the name of Acura’s 90’s era gem. I have even heard the Audi R8’s ugly stepbrother.
I don’t know if I fall in any of those camps. I don’t see the connection to the original NSX to be sure, and do wonder if leaving the NSX name alone was a better idea. But I don’t hate the car at all. In fact, on its own I quite like it. And Kyosho’s recent release of the Honda NSX ensures that.
I could go two routes when it comes to a feature on the Kyosho NSX. (I am choosing to ignore the S660 that came with the set. I have no routes for that one.). I could talk about the model itself. Kyosho nailed it. It is hard to top Kyosho at its best, especially when it does current cars like this one. But Kyosho does have a tendency to slip occasionally as well. That did not happen here. At all. The details are pretty dynamic, and give any owner of this model an appreciation for the car itself.
The other route is the car itself. I think my opinion is clear. It’s a very cool car. It’s a very good looking car. It’s not an NSX. Your opinion might be very different.
Hopefully we can all agree that the Kyosho is pretty awesome.
Now go get a Tomica Basic version and the red Hot Wheels one and see how they compare.
I am definitely in your camp. I love the NSX, I love its looks but considering the circumstances, I think maybe Honda should not have named this as NSX (for obvious reasons). I also think this car is misunderstood but that explanation is for another time.
Yup, Kyosho knocked it out of the park with this one. While I’m not a fan of the S660 kei car either, to be fair I think Kyosho did a bang-up job reproducing it. It would have been nicer if they’d paired the NSX set with an equally sporty car like the 2017 Civic Type R, but we can’t have everything unfortunately.
There is a major slip-up on this: the flying buttresses are missing. Even Hot Wheels did it better.
