First Look: The 2016 Matchbox Best of the World set packaged…

I promised pics, and here they are.

But remember there is no need for me to promise pics.  The pics will always come.  Photographing models is the reason I started Lamley, and that will always be my favorite thing to do.  The Lamley YouTube Channel is a new addition to what I do.

There will definitely be exclusive content on the YouTube Channel, but the same goes for the Lamley Blog as well.  There will be complimentary content as well, like is the case with the Best of the World debut.  You might see models on video first, but I promise they will appear in photo form as well.  There is just a little more fun to be had, and hopefully it adds to the experience.

Anyway, if you haven’t subscribed to the Lamley Channel, please do.  And as always, thanks to all of you for all the support.  It means a lot to me that you watch and read this little labor of love of mine.

Alright, moving on.  Let’s take this in parts.  I am going to start by posting pics of all 10 Matchbox Best of the World models still in package, and then move from there.  Remember that many of these were already featured sans packaging here:

Next up will be the full closeups of the Foxbody Mustang, which you don’t want to miss.  Look for that later today or tomorrow.  I will get to the BMW Motorcycle and Routemaster as well.

If you missed the video, it is here:

A few things in case you missed them:

These are slated for release in early 2016, possibly January.  I don’t know if all 10 will be released at once, or in batches.  I am working to find out at what stores, and in what countries.  As soon as I know I will pass the info along.

There are mixed feelings on the wheels, and that isn’t a surprise.  These two-piece wheels work well on some models, not as much on others.  But in my opinion this is a step in the right direction.  The Matchbox return to glory will happen in steps, and this is one of the first to happen.  The wheels were developed for the Supreme Hero line, but thankfully MBX is moving away from just emergency models into a more diverse line.  It will only keep getting better.  I still think the set looks great.

But enough of my babbling.  Let’s jump in:

Which one is your favorite?

  1. These ultramax wheels are really growing on me. They look fantastic on the A100, as well as the Caddy. Hard to pick a favourite out of the bunch. As a fox body owner I love the SSP Mustang, but they're all good. Almost TOO good!

  2. Pick the best of the Best Series. This is a tough one……Hmmmmmmmm! Okay after several seconds of thought the Austin Mini Van is by far the best looking of the bunch. But that Mustang ain't too far behind it!!
