Where have the Hot Wheels Zamacs gone?

A mystery is brewing…

We have been watching Instagram and other Hot Wheels find forums for the last few days, and have noticed quite a few collectors finding F case bins at their local Walmarts.  In fact, we came across a couple ourselves today.

And that seems about right.  It is March, and that is the time for F cases.  So there is nothing abnormal about that, except for the fact that we haven’t seen very many E cases, and most notably, no Walmart E cases with the Zamac exclusives.

And we don’t want that.  The Walmart Zamacs have been a treat for many collectors the last couple of years, including us.  We don’t collect many complete lines, but we are up-to-date on the Zamacs:

Based on previous years, the first batch of Zamacs debuted about now, and we know they are slated to come because we have seen them:

There they are – #1 El Camino, #2 Lamborghini Veneno, and #3 Ford Shelby GT500, all clearly marked 2015 Zamac.  And what makes it even more clear is the code on the very top of the card:

The last letter of that codes denotes the batch, and the case of these Zamacs, the letter “E” means these are part of the E batch.

So with Batch E already out for a few weeks, and Batch F hitting some stores, where are the Zamac bins?

We have no idea.  It could be several reasons:

  1. They are part of large dump bins, and we haven’t seen many released lately.  Walmart may have them and are holding them for whatever reason.
  2. There has been a problem with production, packing, or shipping.
  3. The Zamacs are not Walmart exclusives, and will show up as Kroger or Target exclusives.
We highly doubt the third option, but the other two could definitely be a legit reason.  Only time will tell.  We hope whatever happened gets resolved soon.  We need a Zamac fix, especially with the models coming (which includes a Civic EF in the third batch):

  1. That's what you would call a first world problem.. at least you have modern cases. Up in Canada all of our stores are constantly ravaged and whats left on the pegs is 2014 D case.. all we have is walmart so unless we head out to one in the country at 7am we are pretty much screwed as far as a hobbie is concerned…

  2. Is there really Hot Wheels mafia? Here in Indonesia, all hot item like zamac or thunt$ are dissapear. You wont find them anymore hanging on stores HW's rack. I hope Mattel can concern about this problem.

  3. Ditto for Canadian. I am losing my patience when the US, even the rest of the world are rolling out new cases but we are still stuck on old 2014 leftovers. But at least there were traces of 2015 cars came out already.

  4. Thirded. Another Canadian here and it's seriously frustrating how bad it's gotten for leftovers and older castings no matter where I look. Why do we get such bad supply up here? It seems like there is a good collector following yet we still get ripped hard

  5. I actually contacted Mattel in regards of this matter. The CS representative said they have no control on whatever ships to here, but I've spotted a few 2015 A case cars in different stores, including the green 620, white Panamera, orange GR1 and the blue Ryura LX, some people on the HWC forum even managed to find the turquoise Kool Kombi and the black 935. But I still haven't spotted ANY yellow NSXs or white Esprit S1s out there…

  6. Yup.. I went into Wamart last night, pegs were bone dry aside from a few green rrroadsters and vansters.. mattel needs to consider selling them on their site as singles, hell I can't even find retro entertainment line up here

  7. If it makes you feel better, we're not getting squat here in Brazil anymore either. We don't get new cases, we don't get exclusives and we still have to pay 9 bucks a pop for a basic Hot Wheels. Sorry, 8.99, which is totally different.

That's why I quit collecting HW back in 2013…
