First Look: Hot Wheels The Vanster…

Not a model we would normally show.  Non-licensed models aren’t really our thing.

Correction.  Fantasy models aren’t really our thing.  Models shaped like a dragon won’t get a lot of attention here.  Non-licensed models, if they resemble something interesting can get a lot of attention here at Lamley.  Just look at the Mad Manga.

Like the Mad Manga and its tribute to bosozoku, we think we The Vanster is also giving a nod to a Japanese staple, the Toyota Hiace Van:

Japan loves a good van.  No, Japan loves customizing a good van, and the Hiace is one of their faves. As you look at that pic, and then look at the Vanster, you get a good idea what inspired the design.

It makes for a pretty cool model.  We don’t know who designed it, but we will try to find out.  In the meantime, it is nice to see what appears to be another JDM model in the lineup…

  1. Love it!…As far as fantasy models go, if they're well done I'm a fan. The only difference between fantasy and production models is the budget approval that was given to make them production realities or even just a concept car.

I predict this will be a favorite for customizers

  2. Actually, to me the Vanster almost looks like a Toyota Alphina or a Nissan… uhmmm… I already forgot!

Anyways, you have lots of “First Looks” this week. But when is Hot Wheels case (batch) D being released from Wheel Collectors? T-Hunted already showed it in pictures. Plus, you didn't even do a “Just Unveiled” on the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, which will be in the case D.

Here are some case D models I know and what I saw:

    1. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento
    2. 2013 Ford Mustang GT
    3. 2013 Viper GTS
    4. Dodge Charger Brazilian ( I have no idea what the year is!)
    5. Nissan Skyline R34 ( Does anyone notice, this model looks a lot like the 2013 recolor?)
    6. 78' Camaro Road Race

  3. It’s definitely based on the Hiace. However, the Hiace isn’t JDM, it’s exported all over the world (except North America).
