Is it any surprise this is the Lamley choice for best regular Treasure Hunt of 2013?

No it is not a surprise. Yes, it is an RX-7, which is something we at Lamley are contractually obligated to like, but of the 15 regular Treasure Hunts released this year, only the Camaro Police car rivals this one for good looks, at least in our humble (and completely JDM-soaked) opinion.
The RX-7 once again sports the Japanese Nostalgic Car logo, which is becoming a common site on many Hot Wheels Japanese car castings (and we already know will appear again in 2014). And like the AE86 this year, it promotes the Japanese Classic Car Show in Southern California. The rest of the model is nice and clean.
So surprise! We like it.

I just happened to click onto the link for Japanese Nostalgic Car and noticed some of their gear. I was diggin' the T-shirt for the “Mazda RX-7 – Daytona”, which depicts the #7 car which is the 1979 winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona.
The car sports green stripes and it cleanly stands out.
What I would like to know, would there be any sort of infringement if Hot Wheels were to use the exact green stripe colors and pattern from the actual IMSA RX-7 GTU?
Is there licensing which involves any remaining members of the original race team or from IMSA itself?
HW's should definitely capture the green/white combo for it's next casting. Are listening Mr.Imai? What I found out was, for those who aren't familiar, Jun Imai used the “B. Ozaki” name printed on the top of the door of the RX-7 model. Brandon Ozaki is an employee of Mattel and also possesses a custom RX-7. Pretty cool stuff!!!
I think the green and white would be awesome.
