First Look: Hot Wheels Porsche 911 GT3 RS…

Now isn’t this a yummy little model?

After the fantastic run of three red-wheeled delights in 2011, the GT3 RS is back in its best Halloween costume.  Let’s just celebrate the fact that Porsche licensers are a bunch of sticklers.  Now I think the days of clown graphics on cars like this are long gone at Hot Wheels, but I am really happy to see Porsche demanding realistic decos on their models.  And another nice touch?  The black wheels.  It doesn’t happen a lot, but they do look sharp against the orange body compared to grey rims, which is the norm on models like this.

Now if you asked me, this is the best Porsche casting of recent years, although the 935 might give it a run.  I notoriously picked the Boxster as my Worst Model of the 2012, and I felt the same about the Cayman.  The latest Porsche, the 918, is very nice, but I wish it was a tad bigger, filling in its proportions a little better.  The GT2 is also a great model, especially with its built in headlights, but I think I go with the GT3 RS first.

So here it is in its orange glory, along with a photo spread of the entire GT3 RS family of four…

  1. This is ABSOLUTE HEAVEN! That car right there, is one of the most beautifully done representation of a real car done by HW in the recent years, according to me. It looks bonkers in that orange and black livery, which was created specifically by Porsche for the GT3 RS. I think I might just end up worshiping this car till I find it. I have the two debut versions (silver and white) and now me is going to grab this one too.

  2. Wonderful casting, the orang and black scheme looks fantastic in Porsche and I have been proposing it many times on the Matchbox forum. Nice to see HW making good use of the colour combo.
