First Look: Matchbox Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Police & Subaru Impreza Police…

Normally I do First Looks separately.  I like to give each model its proper attention.  But when I started photographing these two, it just made sense to post them together.  In fact, the BMW Motorcycle was going to be posted tonight, but these are just too cool to wait.

With all the opinions on where Matchbox has gone brand-wise the last 12 months, one thing is for certain – their line of police cars continues to get better.  We already had the great models like the Crown Vic and Monaco, but the last year we saw the Mitsu Evo and Ford (it’s not a) Taurus Interceptor, and this year we see the BMW Police Bike, Ford (it’s not an) Explorer Interceptor, Buick Police, and Dodge Charger Police.  Top it off with a Lamborghini Police next year and the return of the Impreza Police.  It is quite a lineup.

And how happy am I to have two Japanese Police cars lumped in with them.  Some licensing issues kept the Impreza away for a bit, so we are very happy to have it back.  And thanks Mattel for releasing them in the same batch.  They should be side-by-side.

Oh, yeah, the elephant in the room: Yes, the Impreza has white wheels.  I wouldn’t have chosen those, but they did put the Subaru in the Arctic segment. and it seems all of those got the white wheels.  Never fear, the Arctic segment will be gone next year, and hopefully the white wheels on street cars will be gone as well.  Right now I am just happy to have it back.

But the Evo…WOW, she’s a beauty!  The design works so well, and black is always sexy on a police car…

  1. That Evo looks sweeeet! I found it last night. But that WRX seriously needs black wheels. I won't buy it, because of the wheels.

  2. I feel just like JonathanC said, that WRX is screaming for the black wheels. The Evo is pretty, but I preffer the HW casting.

  3. The Subaru is ruined. First with the white wheels (easy to see) and then there's the blue interior (not that easy to see). The Evo, now that is looking awesome! Can't wait to add it to my collection. I'm more of an Impreza man…. but this time, it's going to be the other way around.
